Meteorology is an atmospheric science that enables people to understand weather events and digitize natural events. The meteorological data created inform us about that environment and the evaluation of the weather conditions. The most common use of these data is the evaluation of air quality. Especially in air quality modeling projects, meteorological data is one of the most important parameters for modeling to give a real result. One of the most important parameters in MACOM Environment and Energy air quality modeling projects to enter real and accurate results is meteorological data input. Your projects are carried out with the most professional experts in this context.
Meteorological data is taken from General Directorate of Meteorology’s online system in Turkey. Since it is a parameter to be considered in modeling, it is the first data that must be entered in order to model the planned activity or the facility to be established. MACOM determines the closest meteorological station to the facility planned or currently in the projects and obtains the data from these stations. In some cases, there may not be enough nearby meteorological stations around the facility. Instead of choosing a station not to represent that place, meteorological data should be produced that would represent that place. MACOM performs meteorological data production for your Environment and Energy projects with its experienced employees.
There are several meteorological data generation models that can be used to develop inputs for air quality models. The most widely used by the EPA and modeling community is the Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model, supported by a wide community and providing the most advanced science parameters of the atmosphere. In addition to the Weather Research and Forecast model, the Fifth Generation Penn State / NCAR Mezoscale Model (MM5) air quality models can also produce the necessary meteorological inputs; however, its development and maintenance is no longer supported. MACOM Environment and Energy produces meteorological data with the WRF model proposed by EPA.
Dynamic meteorological models such as WRF and MM5 have numerous options to solve various processes in the atmosphere. It should be considered that it can react differently under different atmospheric conditions. To support the use of selected physical options, it needs to be comprehensively evaluated. MACOM works diligently in creating this model and gives you the best consultancy on data production. In order to develop prognostic data, it is necessary to carry out an important study in atmospheric conditions.
When defining a meteorological modeling area, it is recommended that the area is of sufficient size and resolution to fully determine the medium-sized features that affect the resource location of the project. On a complex, mountainous terrain, the nearest meteorological observation area may not be representative enough. In this case, it is recommended that the meteorological model scale be high enough to capture certain mountain/valley flows, and large enough to represent upstream and other spatial meteorological features. However, in areas where land properties can be more uniform and homogeneous, a reasonable rough model resolution can be applied. MACOM Environment and Energy pays attention to these details. We are serving you, aware of the importance of details for meteorological data production in your planned projects.
The Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model is particularly recommended for areas living under harsh atmospheric conditions and for large areas. Meteorological data produced by the weather forecast model must be converted to a certain format before entering the modeling programs such as AERMOD or CALPUFF. For AERMET, which is the sub-application of AERMOD application, the data is converted to AERMET format. The Mesoscale Model Interface Program (MMIF) recommended by EPA is used for this transformation. MACOM uses the MMIF program to convert the meteorological data it produces with the Weather Forecast Model (WRF) to the required format. Paying attention to reliable results, MACOM Environment and Energy does its job professionally without skipping any details for your projects.
